Socialising and snow

Gallery openings, dinners and Easter too - 28 March 2008

We recently attended the Human Rights Watch Film Gala. This year’s choice was the brilliant “Persepolis”: an animated film based on a graphic novel by Iranian born Marjane Satrapi and directed by Vincent Paronnaud.

The film touched upon all sorts of Human Rights and Women’s Rights issues that affected Marjane’s life simply because of where, and when, she was born. The film was introduced by my friend Sarah Lieberson.

After a lively debate we went on for drinks and met the talented stylist, Annabel Hodin, all snuggled up in a green Prada teddy fur scarf, and the lovely Trudie Styler, looking great in a white shirt and strict charcoal grey suit.

On top of Trudie’s heavy commitment to charities and film production she has also been busy designing Easter Eggs! I wore a navy pavilion print drape-front, silk jersey dress from our new summer range.

Later that week, we were invited to two gallery events: the opening of John Swannell’s show at Chris Beetle’s and the 20th anniversary party for the Rebecca Hossack gallery.

I love John Swannell’s photography and it was good to see the first print that I ever saw of his; the Naked Vine.

At Rebecca Hossack’s the gallerista catered in a characteristically flamboyant manner with extraordinary fairy cakes.

Easter weekend was a white out in Norfolk. The snow came thick and fast towards our car as we drove to friends Susan and Peter Marston’s for dinner; it was like driving through the universe. Peter and Susan own the Garden Room and Conservatory Company, Marston and Langinger; they have divine taste and are fantastic cooks.

We had a lovely evening in their stunning barn. The next day we woke up to a white landscape, perfect for a big Easter Monday walk; the horses looked a bit miserable though.
