CHRISTOPHER BROWN, MA (RCA)

Christopher Brown was born in London in 1953. He attended the Royal College of Art where he was introduced to, and eventually assisted, Edward Bawden, the master of the linocut. It was Bawden who encouraged him to explore this medium. Since then, Christopher has exhibited at the Michael Parkin Gallery, The Royal Academy, the Fry Gallery, The Fine Art Society, and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

In 1992 he was awarded the W.H. Smith prize for illustration. His clients have included: The Financial Times, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Telegraph, The Economist, The Guardian, Elle, Vogue, The Folio Society, Penguin Books, Faber & Faber, Midland Bank, Bloomingdales, Marsh & Parsons, The RSA, Marks & Spencer and Yves St. Laurent.

 

Knight

A recent commission was for Mark Haddon’s, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (hardcover edition). He has just completed illustrating the novels of F. S. Fitzgerald for The Folio Society and currently is working on Big Boots, a book of poems for children written by Tony Mitton to be published by David Fickling.

Christopher also lecturers at Liverpool School of Art (John Moores University) in Graphic Arts and is a visiting lecturer at Central St. Martins in Fashion Design Menswear.
